A CAN at work... Look at the convening of energy and initiative going on in the Plymouth Octopus Newsletter

We are proud of our connection with the range of community power initiatives in Plymouth over the years - so much of their activity puts flesh on the bones of our CANs concept. The city has an energy to pull projects together from below, and a capacity to knit them together in capacious but effective networks of networks (or CAN of CANs.)

This hit us with the June edition of the Plymouth Octopus’s June 2023 Newsletter (the archive of POP Newsletters is here - June’s below is not uploaded yet, but will be soon). We thought it would be an interesting experience just to lay out what a single email newsletter from POP covered. An economic and funding system aiming to get money into communities; a set of mental health and wellbeing initiatives; a lively literature and arts schedule; job adverts along side “ratings” for POPs collective projects.

Other CANs may have different mixes… but this is what we mean by the concept. A network that holds initiatives together across a diverse community (like Plymouth), in a convivial and constructive spirit.
