Storytelling, networking, events - the Fix Solutions Lab is taking a multimedia approach to climate activism

Experiments in media are, we think, central to an Alternative agenda. Media shapes and frames a sense of reality for busy people - so it’s massively important to be self-conscious about your media techniques and agenda, if your aim is a healed planet and balanced society.

So we like to highlight media initiatives that are clearly trying to provide a different menu of news and content, in a planet-friendly direction. Welcome to Fix Solutions Lab, which according to their About page:

We are founded on a simple premise: Promising solutions to the climate crisis exist — they just haven’t yet gained sufficient momentum to tip the scales.

We’re here to change that.

At the heart of what we do are the visionaries — we call them Fixers — whose bold ideas are powering real, tangible progress.

Through our storytelling, we lift up and amplify their voices to a diverse audience hungry for change. Through our Fixer network, we foster collaboration on the big ideas that can get us there faster. And through our live events, we lay the foundation for the kind of creative thinking needed to move the needle.

The issues over the last 12 months have been rich and impressive - a selection below:

The Climate Case for Joy

Joy is an indispensable force. It can strengthen our resolve, help us uncover creative solutions, and bolster our resilience. It’s a statement to ourselves and the world that we are still here, undefeated. In this issue, we look at why joy is so crucial in this moment, how to make space for it, and the surprising ways people are channeling it to do better climate and justice work.

A taste of climate resilience

What we eat and how it’s produced is a massive contributor to climate change. And, already, our food systems are feeling the impact of extreme weather. To thrive in the future, we’ll have to adapt — but what will that entail? In this issue, we explore that question through the lens of foods that show what sustainable, equitable, and resilient eating could look like.

Nature for all

Connections between humans and our ecosystems are vital for a healthy environment. Whether nature inspires our path, provides us refuge, or protects us from the elements, we can’t fight for our planet without connecting to it. In this issue, we explore the ways that connection is formed and why it is so powerful, plus spotlight the many people working to make outdoor connections safe, accessible, and equitable.

We were particularly thrilled to see Fix’s investment in climate fiction, the competition rules to “Imagine 2200” were laid out in this blog - some of the winners are here:
