For a full month, here's free access to the New Internationalist's Online Reading Room - all issues available

It’s been around for nearly 50 years, but the New Internationalist magazine - a long-standing proponent of the global justice position - has recently come into a new lease of life. With its recent cooperative share issue among its readers, NI has amassed enough resources to produce one of the most beautiful magazines on the newsstand.

Its strapline, The World Unspun, couldn’t be more sharply focussed, in a public realm infested with hype merchants, disinformers and political technologists.

So we’re delighted to be able to share with you a free offer they’re making to people like you, reading in places like this, who might not have considered reading NI (or have a fixed idea of it from the past). Here’s their pitch:

As the coronavirus pandemic sweeps the globe, trustworthy independent journalism has never been more important.

So, we want to make New Internationalist free to read for everyone for one calendar month – starting 6 May.

We’re asking you to help us reach out by sharing this link to New Internationalist’s Virtual Reading Rooms.

We’re especially keen to get the magazine to people who might not usually read us.

So please share the link in community forums, on neighbourhood lists, with activist or campaign groups, schools… anywhere you think people will enjoy it and find it useful. Friends and family too – there’s no limit.

At this moment of great change and suffering – with the world’s inequalities writ large – we think it’s important to share a hopeful message of how to build a different world, as widely as we can.

We’ll post a few pages from the current issue below. And again, here’s the link to the reading room:
