UK General Election Day: Restore. Regenerate. Repair. Revive. Transform. Sustain. WAKE UP

Hard to know exactly what to post on this UK General Election Day. Those of you who read us regularly and follow our blogs and editorial will know our political, ideological and value-based commitments.

We recognise both the ultimate challenges of broaching the planetary boundaries of our planet’s ecology - and the unbounded possibilities of advanced technologies like AI and genomics.

But we also present a severe rebuke to the broken nature of the political systems, culture and practice (at national but at other levels too), which cannot express and does not help us meet these challenges.

And our interest in community power, localism, relationship-driven lifestyles, social anarchism, that holds out the possibility that citizens can feel tangible agency in their lives again.

Find a clear and unequivocal vote in that, as we are all squeezed through this first-past-the-post system in the UK… and we’ll thank you for the advice.

So we’ll cast ours, and you cast yours, according to what outcome will head towards unbreaking and transforming the situation thumbnailed above, and expressed in the millions of words on this site over the last three years.

Yet no matter what form of government materialises, we believe our agenda here persists, and will indeed grow in relevance.

So that’s why above, and partly just because we want to see it again, we’re showing you the Japanese animation that partly inspired us to launch the Alternative UK. It’s 7-8 minutes of sheer, unstoppable, startling, overwhelming generativity - human and animal, project and system, all wrapped up together.

See you on the other side, on the same path.
