How does politics conceive of the human being? During Brexit, the major UK political parties thought only of ‘homo economicus’, driven and sustained by money, needing only material things.

Farage and Trump addressed us as emotional beings, requiring control over our lives, choosing status, belonging and identity over simple survival.

In reality we are bio-psycho-social-spiritual bodies: complex entities. A politics that ignores that gives rise to crime, poverty, mental illness, loneliness.

What kind of politics might help deliver the flourishing of human beings?
